Optical Pyrometers
Overview
Optical Pyrometers are non-contact Temperature measuring instruments designed for high-Temperature applications. Utilizing the principles of visible light intensity emitted by hot objects, these pyrometers offer precise Temperature readings without requiring physical contact. They are ideal for environments where conventional sensors cannot withstand the heat or access is limited.
Working Principle
Optical pyrometers work on the principle of thermal radiation. They compare the brightness of the object to a calibrated filament inside the device. When the brightness of the filament matches that of the target, the corresponding Temperature is read from the calibrated scale. This method is particularly effective for measuring Temperatures of incandescent materials like molten metals or heated surfaces in furnaces.
